The children must stay with us until they are 18 years. When they then want an education we will be of assistance to them. If they wish to stay with us after turning 18, that will also be possible.

Several of our children are handicapped and don’t want to leave us. Those we will try to integrate in the work at the home and thereby give them a dignified and useful life.

The children go to school every day except on Saturday and Sunday. They are taught mathematics, Hindi, English, history, reading and writing. Social studies are being planned.

Knowledge of English is important in the Indian society. It is therefore important that the children are taught English every day.

On Saturdays classical Indian dancing, singing and music is taught. There is no school on Sundays but most of the pupils do their homework.

At night, the children watch TV for an hour, or dance and sing. Twice a week the children practise yoga and meditation.

Both the adult classes contain exclusively of young girls and women. They are educated in sewing, and a little reading and writing. Hereby they get the opportunity to manage on their own economically. Because of the obtained sewing skills, they can sew for others and thus make a living.

We use the children as ambassadors of good health and hygiene. Through their home visits we can notice an improvement in the general health situation around Bodh Gaya.
